SERIES PREMIERE Every five years on Halloween, the wealthiest families in America play a game. Twelve of the deadliest people in the world are dropped into a small town with just one goal: last killer standing wins. For the citizens of Oak Valley, Maine—this year's unlucky arena—the goal is much simpler. They must survive the night.  Experience a comics event like no other, from the minds of JAMES TYNION IV & MICHAEL WALSH, as they lead a group of the most exciting voices in the industry. Over thirteen blood-soaked chapters, these creators will collaborate and compete to determine who wins and who dies—and the games begin in this triple-sized debut!

What if, since the founding of America, 13 families were secretly controlling every aspect of the country from the shadows? How would they figure out who was really in control between them? Why, a death-match of course! Every five years, the 13 families get together for a game to determine who’s in charge. Each of them chooses a card at random that tells them what weapon they are permitted to use in the fight. They then select someone to represent them and wield their weapon; usually a cold-blooded murderer, psychopath, or trained killer. An arena is decided upon (some small town no-one cares about), and the game begins. Exquisite Corpses is exactly as the title says, exquisite! A fantastic introduction to a vast cast of characters, without feeling overwhelming. Plus, 64 pages for only five bucks? What a steal! The art is great, and the story gives you just enough to keep you interested while still making you want to find out more. It’s been a while since I’ve read what I would consider a perfectly crafted comic, but I think that Exquisite Corpses finally fits that description!
