Deep in the cosmos, an intergalactic inquisition descends upon Apokolips and New Genesis, carrying with it a sinister message: convert or be destroyed. Meanwhile on Earth, Mister Miracle and Big Barda, with their baby in tow, seek out the mysterious child spoken of in Metron's prophecy, desperate to find him before Orion does. Could this child--this new god--be the universe's savior? Or could he be the reincarnation of the universe's greatest evil?

Reviews

Short and quick review, this book is a great read , with great artwork too.
We learn about the new bad guys origins and Oberon shows up in the present! A great modern comic following in the steps of Jack Kirby himself.

Long winded, run on sentences review follows.
I do not know about you. but the name Jack Kirbys Fourth World always confused me some... Golden Age Marvel =1st world? Silver Age DC =2nd world? Silver Age Marvel =3rd world? Because New Gods #1 clearly shows Thor at Ragnarok dying. Jack Kirby DC titles = self proclaimed 4th World!

I know there is an inworld explanationish, but one of the things missing in most non Kirby New Gods is this idea of death and rebirth with multiple Worlds/ ages inbetween. Well Ram V has that theme in spades. This issue even "explains" the Third World. Kinda. I feel like I am reading Alan Moore or Grant Morrison or Jonathan Hickman and I need to finish the story arc to fully understand it.
But boy do I love it! Holy crap, does this book feel like a new issue of Kirby world building nonsensical comic bookiness. New old worlds, new old gods, leading to our New Gods, while still keeping everything previously revealed intact. And it has two amazing artists storytelling the present and past so well. Such a fun time. Read it please. This book deserves it.
